I see you, summer

Jett's face is how my insides feel right now. We saw the faintest glimpse of summer, and now we are under water. We loaded up the car with cookout essentials and a million sand toys, but it wasn't the summer kickoff we had imagined.

The kids, however, had no idea they were shivering or that their lips were turning blue. They were dirty, wet, and happy to be playing in the sand with their cousins.

Our view for the summer. On a clear day, it's a straight, perfect shot to the mountains.

Daddy put the kids to work, hunting and gathering tinder to start a fire.

I was cold and miserable and ready to go home, but the kids were in their element, and really, isn't that the point of motherhood?
